Books, books, and more books

I LOVE to read. About 10 years, heck, even 5 years ago, I never would have said that about myself. I have this complusion now- once I start reading a book, it's almost impossible to put down. I mean I seriously finish a book in one sitting. I'm a fast reader, well actually I scan, not read- but whatever. Anyway, so I have a problem...
I don't know what to read next.
I just finished Twilight Series and I'm book two of the Mark of Lion Series (which is a hard read) but today I wandered around Barnes and Nobles for an hour. I don't know what I was expecting, something to just jump off the shelf at me or what. I ended up buying a puzzle (hello, I'm a grandma!).
So help, what are some good reads...
I'm off to do my puzzle and watch talk shows!

Hey ML! I'm a HUGE reader too. Have you read the Red Tent? I can't remember the author's name, but it is based on Dinah. GREAT story. Also, if you like historical fiction (which, I'm a loser and that's pretty much all I read), then anything by Phillippa Gregory is great. She wrote The Other Boleyn Girl, and lots of other books on Henry the 8th and all his wives. I also read a series on Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte (I'm a huge nerd), but it was SUCH a good series. It made me cry, but in a good way. The author is Sandra Gulland.

I'm kind of in a rut too... what have you read lately??

Red Tent is by Anita Diamant. Excellent book! I have it if you want to borrow.

I am emailing you a list of our book club picks as we speak...

ML - Forward that list from EM to me please! I now have to read before falling asleep to decompress from the club. I started the book you lent me last night, but I agree with you, it's a tough read. We need to start our book club!!!

I have read the Red Tent and LOVED it!
Em, thanks for the reccommendations, but historical ficton makes me tired. I'll send you an email of some of my lastest reads.
Other Em (that's weird), I'm gonna look over your list- thanks.
Casey, I'll forward it on to you. And keep going with the book once you finish it, you're like, oh that was good.

"This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness" (series on spiritual warfare) by Frank Peretti - unbelievable books that totally changed my prayer life.

"Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers (you may have already read this one though)

Also I heard that any of Karen Kingsbury's series are amazing. I'm on the third Mark of the Lion book and can't get through it. I stopped it to read Twilight and am now trying to finish it. I loved that 2nd one.

Oh and have you read the Left Behind series? Those are also really good if you haven't.

Hey I hooked up with Emily's comments since I too am an historical fiction buff. I'm checking the library for the two authors she mentioned. Thanks Emily.

Hey ML! I LOVE to read memoirs. I just love to hear the life stories of interesting people. The best one I've read lately is The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It is truly one of the most fascinating books I've ever read. I was sucked in from the first page, and I finished the whole thing in a day or two. It's one of those books that I'll read again someday. :)

Ok, so my books look pretty sad/lame next to these other suggestions, but I really like the Shopaholic series. I am on the 4th right now, and I think there is one more after that. They are easy reads but entertaining. When I started reading them, I didn't realize they were making a movie, and now I am really excited to see it.

I have one other book that I would like to finish one day. Blonde. It is about Marilyn Monroe. It is huge and I got sidetracked, but would like to get back into it. It was also a movie that had Patrick Dempsey in it.

Hey ML - I loved the Twilight books, and I was at a lost after I read them. I am now reading a series of books by Charlaine Harris. The first one in the series is called Dead Until Dark. They are about vampires as well and there is a series on HBO called "True Blood" that is based on the books. These books have a few, oh what's the best word to use, mature adult scenes, but I think they are almost as good as the Twilight series. I also like books by Emily Giffin. She is one of my favorite authors. April

ML-
I just read a great one: Eve's Daughters by Lynn Austin (same author as those civil war books). So good I was ready to call you & Casey & start our book club. Seriously I'm ready I think I'll think that through and plan us to start in March . . .
