Couponing

Yesterday I watched Oprah. I never watch Oprah; I don't agree with her and what she does or does not stand for (but that's a topic for another day, another time).
The whole show was on the Economy and budgeting and such. I really enjoyed it. They have the thriftiest family in America on. They survive (and save) on an income of $58,000 for a family of 5. Holy cow! But what really interested me was Coupon Mom. She was incredible.
I have tried to coupon (is that a verb?) a couple of times. I get so overwhelmed with clipping and then filing and then I can't remember what I have and when it expires. Oh, it's awful. Not to mention I end up spending more money cause I buy more than I would simply because I have a $.25 coupon.
I told Nick if someone would just set up the system I would do it. I just can't figure out how to make it work. Well, my new BFF Coupon Mom has the system in place. You just print out the handbook and start saving!
But today, faithful readers, I'm turning over a new leaf.

So starting today, I'm on the coupon bandwagon! All aboard....

I'm with you...........if it's easy! Mark's mom does it and I just feel that it takes so much time and I always forget to use them and such. But I'll give it another shot.

Ok, help me with it then. What book do you download? I agree 100% with everything you said. What do I need to do?

ML, I have been couponing for years. Here is the way I do it. Take a few minutes on Sun pm and scan your paper inserts. Most of the good coupons are in there. Only cut out the ones for products you use. Put them all in one location. Before you grocery shop go thru the coupons, throw away the expired ones. Put in order the coupons for the things you need. Order being the way they are stocked in the store. This week I saved $13.00 Nothing like coupon Mom, but not bad!

There is a website that I have used and now I can't find it. I will find it for you - anyway, it is a subscription based service. You tell it what stores you shop at, and it will tell you what items to use your coupons on and when the best time to use it is. It even tells you where the coupon is located (usually). It pretty much does all the work for you, except for the clipping. I will find it.

Found it!! www.thegrocerygame.com

You may not like it, but I found it helpful. Then I stopped clipping. It did save a ton of money though! This site will even tell you when things are on sale and that it is at it lowest price and to stock up. Love it...maybe will resubscribe again.

Please tell me how to find this booklet to print! I started using coupons after Will was born - baby stuff is really expensive!

I have friends who use the one Leah mentioned:
www.thegrocerygame.com
It's $1 to try it for 4 weeks and then if you like join later it's $20/8 weeks and it does all the stuff for you, you just sign up for the stores you shop at it tells you what to buy based on it's value-I'm going to collect Sunday papers for the next 4 weeks then do the trial session. My friend whois cheaper than me (if you can believe it) just saved $18 this week!
