Farmer's Market

I know it's not Farmer's Market season yet... but, I love a good Farmer's Market. Murfreesboro has one, but it's hours and location stink. Today Nick and I had "date day" we went to lunch (Taco Bell- so romantic) and to see Four Christmases (super super cute- Casey, go see it- we'll keep Will!). On the way home we were driving down the road Sam's is on and they are building two new building kinda by the PAWS Animal Shelter. I asked Nick what it was. He told me it's a reception building, but the back is an open air FARMER'S MARKET!! I can't wait for it to open, I mean it's a great location for me (and Em, and Leah, and Katie, sorry Casey :o)!) I'm hoping it will be ready for the summer season of fresh fruits and veggies!
I think I'll take the workers some hot cocoa next week to speed them up- anybody with me?

holly jolly

I just love Christmas time. It seems this Christmas season has flown by... so I thought I'd post some pictures of the Holly Jolly-ness that is the Brown household.
Here is our house during the "blizzard" we got the other night.

La Cocina (that's kitchen for those of you who don't speak spanish)

Here is our downstairs tree, with and without the lights on.

And the stocking were hung....

My dining room ready for guests

The nativity my MawMaw made for us our first Christmas.

Our bonus room tree

I'm already dreading taking it all down....

medical term for the day is...

Pectus Carinatum, which is what my little brother got diagnosed with today. Here is what that medical lingo means in real people language. His ribs and sternum have not fused correctly as he has grown and now that he is growing like a weed, it's more apparent. He has this bulg that stickes out, but it's a like a rib that you can mash back down. It's actually kinda gross feeling- he made me touch it. It's has varying degrees of severity and can damage your internal organs if not corrected. So he has to wear this chest brace for 16 hours a day for the next YEAR- hello, a year- not cool. I mean comon' he is a freshman in high school and you want him to wear a body armor getup. I feel sorry for him. Mom told him he could wear it when he gets home from school and through the night and maybe not have to wear it at school, bless him! He will have to wear the brace for at least a year, maybe more, depending on his chest and how much he is still growing. He will then have to wear it the rest of his life like a retainer. He goes next Tuesday to an orthopedicis place to be fitted for his "super suit", "bullet proof vest" or "turtle shell"- take your pick of names.
So send up a little prayer for him, I know it's not fun or cool or gonna be comfortable. But at least there is no surgery and it's can be corrected.
It's always something....

tragedy

The other night Nick was reading my blog and said "why don't you write anything about me?" I asked him what he wanted me to write and he said something to the effect of how wonderful and smart and good looking he is. um, yeah...
But here is a post about him:
HE BROKE A PLATE TONIGHT.
And not just any plate mind you. Not one of my countless fiesta plates, which can all be replaced. He broke one of my Christmas plates. They are a set from Target that I got the Christmas before we got married. So, needless to say, I can't get them anymore! I'm so sad. Now I'm down to 7 plates. Guess I can't have more than 6 people to dinner at a time now.
Bummer.
But on a happy note, my two trees are up and I just LOVE THEM! Bring on the holly jolly!
